Spirent
Staff at the Paignton office of global firm, Spirent Communications, got together to organise activities over several months to raise funds to support young patients on Louisa Cary ward. Activities included a fundraising car wash, bake sale and pool competition – with the funds raised then match-funded by Spirent.
“I think I talk for everyone when I say that we had a ton of fun baking and raising money for charity. It was fantastic to get together and give back to our local community!”
Travis Gill, Spirent communications
Mr Mortgages
The Mr Mortgages team raised funds, walking from their Paignton office to their Babbacombe office and back, raising money for the Ricky Grant Day Unit, a haematology / oncology day centre providing chemotherapy and associated treatments, education and advice on an outpatient basis.
“The staff at the Ricky Grant centre have been looking after patients for many years, and recently three members of the Mr Mortgages team have had their loved ones looked after too – as it’s so close to home we feels it’s important to give back to say a HUGE thanks for their support and expertise through uncertain times.”

Dunelm, Torquay
Our local Dunelm store has been an ongoing supporter of the charity donating gift vouchers, collecting comfort packages for staff and supporting the charity through their annual Delivering Joy Christmas campaign, firstly ensuring that patients in hospital over Christmas received a gift and then supporting Torbay Hospital’s most vulnerable patients with basic clothing and toiletries to ensure, whatever their circumstances, they are discharged warm, clothed, clean and with dignity.
“We chose Torbay Hospital for Dunelm’s Tree of Joy campaign because we feel it’s in the heart of our community. We feel that it’s relatable to everyone, whether they are happy memories welcoming new life or sad saying goodbye to a loved one. We are very grateful for the NHS. It is also important to learn that the hospital does so much more. I was so wowed by the discharge lounge team, the idea behind it, and the genuine care and love of the staff and everyone involved. At Dunelm, we were overwhelmed by the gifts and support from our customers in the Tree of Joy campaign.”

Torquay United AFC
TU AFC has been one of Louisa Cary ward’s biggest supporters over the years, raising funds for equipment, including a carbon dioxide monitor for use on our High Dependency Unit. Their support has really helped to enhance the care that’s provided on the ward and is so appreciated. In addition, TU AFC players generously give their time to visit the ward, bringing smiles to the faces of many of our youngest patients in Torbay Hospital!
“Torquay United AFC is proud to represent not only the community in which it resides, but also its residents, and therefore we are delighted to have partnered up with Torbay Hospital during on a number of fundraising projects during the past few years.
Our Football Club recognises the tireless work of everyone at Torbay Hospital to care for those who need it most – in particular those on the Louisa Cary Childrens Ward – and we look forward to continuing to help those who help us for many years to come.’“
